Hello!

My name is Laura Beth Merrell and I will be your child's 5th grade teacher.  This will be my eighth year teaching and my second at Sewanee Elementary. 

I am originally from a small town in NC but most recently moved from Charlotte.  I graduated from UNC-Charlotte with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education.  I graduated from Queen's University of Charlotte with my M.Ed. in Administrative Leadership.  I am also licensed in special education.

When I'm not at school, I love to be outside!  My husband and I have 2 pups, Lego and Miller, and we enjoy taking them hiking and camping!  When the weather isn't nice, you can find me reading a good book! I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends!

I look forward to a wonderful year.  My goal is for your child to grown academically, socially and emotionally.  My motto is to work hard, play hard so we will be learning new things and having lots of fun.  Thank you for your support at home.  I look forward to partnering with you to ensure a great year for your child!
