Bio

I live in Sewanee with my husband, Harrison, and our three daughters, Lily (8th grade), Sadie (5th grade), and Suzanna (3rd grade.)  We have two dogs, five cats, three snails, two fish, and twelve chickens that help make our house a home.  I enjoy spending time with my family, being outside, cleaning and organizing, and doing crafty projects.

I graduated from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.  After graduating from college and a 6 month excursion to Lake Tahoe, CA, I accepted a position teaching 3rd grade outside of Athens, GA.  I went on to teach a year of ESL and 2 years of 2nd grade.  Then, my husband was offered a job in Sewanee, and we moved.  I enjoyed working 2 years at the Sewanee Children's Center before accepting a position as a kindergarten teacher at Sewanee Elementary in 2012.  I am a Level Two certified forest educator and enjoy teaching Forest Kindergarten.

Teaching is my passion, and I believe every child needs someone who truly cares about them.  My goal, as a teacher, is to provide a safe environment where children enjoy learning, are respectful of each other, feel loved and accepted, and value their individuality.
