Welcome to Sewanee Elementary School
Sewanee Elementary is nestled atop the scenic Cumberland Plateau in southeastern Middle Tennessee.
Part of the Franklin County School District, the school serves students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.
A Century of Learning: Sewanee Elementary Turns 100 in 2026!
Construction of the community-built school began in 1924, culminating in the opening of the doors in 1926, an event that cemented the school's central role in the community. To mark this incredible milestone, a grand Birthday Bash will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026.
We are so excited for this wonderful event!
During the 2025/2026 school year, the current Sewanee Elementary students are learning the history of the school. Students are also collecting stories of students, teachers, and families who attended Sewanee Elementary over the years. Do you have a story or photo to share?
